Michigan Society of Medical Assistants

Good morning MSMA members!!!!

I hope you are all doing well now that summer is coming to and end and fall is in full swing.

That means back to school, apples, fall smells, football and the MSMA Fall Conference!. This year my 12 year old started in youth tackle football… Even though this is exciting to see him love the sport – it’s also nerve racking for me to watch and make sure he is okay…

So let’s talk about the Fall Conference. This year The Greater Detroit Chapter will be hosting this event September 30 – October 2 at the Holiday Inn, Livonia. Please make sure you get on the MSMA website to register. Lately I have been listening to a leadership podcast and I just love John Maxwell. This is what he says about leadership;

“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them.”
-John Maxwell

This year we really would like to start developing more leaders for our organization. If you want to have a big impact on our society, I would encourage you to become a leader. We currently have a new “leader” in the Membership chair position along with some new committee members. Liberty Shelby. She is taking this position and running with it. Her committee will be working closely with the Public Relations chair and helping to develop and maintain our “Members Only” section of our website… So look for that coming in the next few months. This is something that many of you have been asking for for years. Another date to remember is the AAMA Annual Conference being held in Myrtle Beach October 21-24. This is another great opportunity to meet the leaders of AAMA. You can also register online through the AAMA.

As fall is in full swing I hope to see you all in Livonia.
